Economics & Finance Dept. Outstanding Graduate
Spring 2012
I graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School, in Crowley, Louisiana, in 2008 with a 4.0 GPA. From there, I enrolled at UL to attain a bachelor degree in nursing. Before my first semester was over, I knew that it wasn’t the right route for me and quickly switched my major to finance, where I have been for 6.5 semesters and am on track to graduate with a 3.83 GPA. I was on the President’s List for 5 straight semesters, and the Dean’s List for 1 semester. I have maintained TOPS- Honors for my entire undergraduate career and have acquired numerous scholarships:
- Academic Excellence Scholarship
¨ Olive Tupper Scholarship
¨ Valedictorian Scholarship
¨ Centennial Scholarship
¨ Outstanding Freshman Scholarship
¨ Hebert A. & Mary E. Hamilton Scholarship
¨ Acadiana Credit Exec Association Scholarship
Throughout my college days, I have been active in the local religious community, doing various community outreach projects, some include Relay for Life, Up ‘til Dawn, and helping out with the Faith House- Women & Children’s shelter. I have had the privilege of being a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Who’s Who (High School and College). I am also a member, and former secretary of the Financial Managers Association (FMA), where we collect non-perishable items for the less fortunate as well as help tutor college students in basic finance courses. From time to time, I also participate in intramural basketball. I love to attend athletic events, such as football, basketball and baseball. We have such a rich, unique culture here at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette that everyone wants to be involved! In my spare time, I enjoy hunting and fishing, cycling, supporting our local music, and attending Art Walks and Downtown Alive. Upon graduating in May, I plan to continue my studies at UL’s MBA program, where I would like to earn a Master of Healthcare Administration. With that, I would like to one day manage and operate a health facility, clinic or hospital, so that I can tie in my love for finance and my growing interest in the medical field.
