Business faculty share angel investment tips with entrepreneurs
Thu, 07/16/2015 - 2:16pmFaculty from the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration provided insight to the world of angel investments July 15 as part an event series for INNOV8 Acadiana, which helps entrepreneurs in the region connect with mentors and investors who can help accelerate their businesses.
The event, held at The Opportunity Machine headquarters at Louisiana Immersive Technology Enterprise (LITE) on the UL Lafayette campus, featured Dr. Keith Credo, assistant professor of management, and Cian Robinson, adjunct instructor and Executive Director of the Lafayette General Foundation.
Robinson explained his role within a unique program at Lafayette General, where entrepreneurs, investors, and experts collaborate on healthcare innovations. He also drew from his personal angel investment experience and career expertise for anecdotes and applicable knowledge for the audience.
Credo, who has worked as an organizational change consultant to several multi-national firms, is an advisor to several entrepreneurial startups, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Angels of Southwest Louisiana, also offered direct guidance on working within an angel investing group and the process for entrepreneurial endeavors.
Both speakers as well as moderator Pete Prados, Executive Director of INNOV8 Acadiana, answered questions and helped prepare the innovator audience for pitching this fall at the Technology & Entrepreneurship Summit.
Credo shares the benefit of this program: "These events have far-reaching impacts on not only the potential entrepreneur, but also on the development of a diverse, sustainable economic landscape in Acadiana. Successful entrepreneurial ventures have historically been responsible for the creation of most net new jobs, locally and nationally. As a faculty of the Moody College of Business, I look forward to more opportunities to engage our UL Lafayette students and members of the Acadiana community in creating a diverse array of new ventures that will have a long-lasting positive impact on the growth of our region."
