MBA student and faculty member earn top honors in global business exchange competition

A B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration student and faculty member received top honors for their participation in the global X-Culture Project, a competition that involves thousands of students and professionals collaborating on challenges and best practices for international business consulting.

Ronald Castro Avila, a University of Louisiana at Lafayette master’s in business administration student from Cartagena, Colombia, worked as part of an international virtual team that earned a Top 10 spot among the 725 entries received.

Dr. David Baker, an associate professor of marketing at the Moody College of Business, was named one of the Top 30 instructors for the two-month competition. Baker initiated this first cohort of MBA students as part of his International Business course for the Spring 2016 semester.

“The project gave me the opportunity to interact and work with students from all around the world and with different backgrounds to help a company solve a real life problem. It also allows students to put into practice all the concepts and principles learned in the MBA program,” said Castro Avila, who will graduate in Fall 2016.
