Students Put Selling Skills to the Test at Seventh Annual Sales Competition
Tue, 11/15/2016 - 4:54pmUniversity of Louisiana at Lafayette students displayed their selling skills in the seventh annual collegiate sales competition hosted by the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration on October 21.
Fourteen advanced professional sales students competed by delivering individual mock sales pitches to regional industry executives posing as professional buyers of fictitious companies. The panel of judges, comprised of over 30 community sales professionals, evaluated participants based on a rubric of skills including communication, use of visual aids, and how well they uncovered the need of the buyer.
The event also included a special networking hour for sales and marketing students to interact with industry executives.
The winner, Caeleb Young, a marketing senior from Lafayette, La., placed first and will be competing with second place winner and marketing senior Salvadore Crifasi from New Orleans, La. in the 10th Annual National Sales Challenge hosted by William Patterson University in New Jersey.
Trey Madison, a marketing senior from Thibodaux, La. Placed third. Nicholas Neumeyer from Youngsville, La. and Summer Romero from New Iberia, La., who also participated in the competition, will attend the Annual National Sales Challenge as alternates where faculty members Reece Theriot and Brent Baker, PhD. will attend as coaches.
