Shelbi King named Fall 2016 Outstanding Accounting Graduate
Tue, 12/13/2016 - 12:27pmShelbi King has been named the Outstanding Graduate for the Accounting Department in the B.I. Moody III Business Administration for the Fall 2016 semester.
King, a dual accounting and marketing major, has been named on the President’s List for five consecutive semesters and on the Dean’s List for the Spring 2012 and Spring 2016 semesters.
She also received the Ragin’ Cajun Spirit Badge for her dedication to academic studies. King has also been the president of Beta Alpha Psi Honors Accounting Organization for three consecutive semesters and is a three-time recipient of the Accounting Department Scholarship.
King has also been very active in university organizations and activities. She has been a member of Beta Alpha Psi Honors Accounting Organization since 2014 and served as president from Fall 2015 to Fall 2016. King is also a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Ragin’ Marketing, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She also serves as a campus ambassador for Becker Professional Education.
In addition to her participation in university organizations, King is also very active in the local community. She is a volunteer for St. Joseph’s Diner, Susan G. Komen Nonprofit Breast Cancer Organization, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana.
After graduation, King plans to immediately begin preparing the CPA exam. After passing the exam, she hopes to become licensed CPA and work full-time for Ernst & Young or with Darnall, Sikes, Gardes & Frederick. King’s ultimate goal is to give back to the university and start an endowed scholarship for first-generation college students.
