Major: Marketing
Concentration: Professional Sales and Business Analytics
Hometown: Slidell, LA
Internship: Fulcrum Sales & Marketing, LLC

Why did you choose to attend UL Lafayette?
My dad attended the school back when he was in University, and when touring, the tour guide sold me on UL Lafayette.

Why did you choose to major in Marketing with concentrations in Professional Sales and Business Analytics?
I have always liked Psychology and Business. Marketing just seemed to really fit those, allowing me the best of both worlds. I chose Business Analytics as I like problem-solving and using existing data to guide choices. Sales was so I can understand the sales side of business better, so going forward I can make smarter decisions.

How did you first hear about your internship?
It was through Dr. McGehee’s Advanced Personal Selling course. Reece Theriot (Fulcrum’s CEO) came in to present and was looking for sales students who wanted to land a job. I was fortunate enough that he needed an intern for Data Science.

What was your favorite thing about your internship?
I really liked the freedom and flexibility I had at Fulcrum. It helped me understand the need for cultivating good company culture, and how to uphold it.

What were your responsibilities at your internship?
I was tasked with preparing data for a bi-annual meeting, managing CRM information, refining and updating data, developing automation for company tasks, operations based tasks, identifying issues in the company structure, and supporting the team in various ways to keep them prepared.

What is the most valuable thing you have learned during your internship?
The most valuable thing I learned is the kind of management I need as an employee. Working at Fulcrum allowed me to develop an understanding of what I need around me to succeed.

How has participating in the Moody Business Internship Program benefitted your professional development?
It definitely helped me grow as a person. Fulcrum had people who cared for me as an individual, not just a coworker. Having those people around me helped me make strides as an individual and as an employee.

What advice would you give to someone considering participating in the Moody Business Internship Program in the future?
An internship is akin to university, it’s what you make of it. If you show up ready to assist others and be a part of the team, your internship will help you learn and grow. It’s all about what you make of it.
