Incoming Freshmen & Parents welcomed at President's house
Tue, 01/28/2014 - 12:00amULL President, Dr. Joseph Savoie; SGA President, Kylie Templet;
Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Carolyn Bruder
It is great to see so many new faces on UL Lafayette campus. The summer days have been sweltering but that has not deterred the thousands of incoming freshman and their families from touring our university grounds.
Each new student must complete a New Student Orientation program to aide them in their transition to our new college environment. The ULL students that make up our Orientation Team are knowledgeable about everything the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has to offer. Orientation programs allow incoming freshman to express their transition concerns, learn about the numerous resources available to them on our campus, and meet with their College’s dean and administration staff, instructors, and advisors.
The orientation process involves the families of incoming freshman as well. The programs help family members relate to the experience that their loved one will have at our university. It informs them of our campus facilities and provides information on how to help their “new” student transitionto the duties that college demands of them.Dr. Joseph Savoie, President of UL Lafayette, welcomes families of incoming freshman to his home on campus. Dr. Savoie, along with the heads of each of our College's, highlight the tour and reinforce our commitment to student success through tradition, transition and transformation at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
