College of Business Administration passes its advanced accreditation
Sat, 01/25/2014 - 12:00amThe Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International announces that the B.I. Moody III College of Business at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette passes its five year maintenance of its advanced accreditation.
Accreditation can be complicated to understand. A school can be accredited in a variety of areas and at a variety of levels. The most common type of accreditation is known as institutional accreditation. In most countries, this type of accreditation is required in order for a school to award degrees.
After a university earns the basic right to grant degrees, it can continue to earn specialized accreditations for its specific degree programs. When a school earns a specialized accreditation from a top accrediting body in a particular area, it has demonstrated true quality. For university programs in business, AACSB is the largest and most recognized specialized accrediting body in the world.
AACSB provides internationally recognized, specialized accreditation for business and accounting programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level. The AACSB Accreditation Standards challenge post-secondary educators to pursue excellence and continuous improvement throughout their business programs.
Today, the AACSB Accreditation Standards are used as the basis to evaluate a business school’s mission, operations, faculty qualifications and contributions, programs, and other critical areas. AACSB accreditation ensures students and parents that the business school is providing a top-quality education. It also ensures employers that AACSB-accredited business school graduates are ready to perform on day one. Additionally, AACSB accreditation provides many benefits to the faculty and staff at its accredited schools by attracting higher quality students, providing greater research opportunities, and allowing for global recognition.
Congratulations to Dean Joby John and all the faculty and staff at the B. I. Moody College of Business for a job well done. For more information on AACSB accreditation, please go to www.aacsb.edu or contact Dean John at 337-482-6492
